TIPS ON CARING FOR
YOUR TERRACOTTA POTTERY. Most of our terracotta pottery range is fired between 640-760.c which results in the pottery being porous. The terracotta pottery is therefore fairly fragile, but with careful handling and maintenance will last for many years. We have compiled a list of tips that will help you get the most out of your pottery: -Large terracotta pots were traditionally used as water storage jars but today are commonly used for decorative and ornamental purposes. If our pottery is going to be used as a plant pot we recommend that an inner plastic container be used so as to prevent any root growth damage to the pot. -We advise that the pottery not be kept in too damp conditions which could result in mould altering the natural color and beauty of the piece. We thus recommend that the pottery be stored in dryer environments if possible. -Our terracotta range has been stored in minus 15 degrees celsius without problems. However, we do not advise this as natural moisture present within the pottery could freeze resulting in damage. -Our pottery is hand made traditionally from 100% natural ingredients. It has been tested and proven to be toxin free. It can be used for food storage purposes. -Our terracotta tableware can be washed in dishwashers but this may shorten the life of the pottery. We recommend that it is hand washed with a detergent and left to dry naturally. Home FAQ Search Sculpture Pottery Lighting Bathroom Garden Handicraft Furniture |
